Eye to Eye Pt 2: The Zebra Eye

Eye to Eye Silver Foil Scratchboard & Acrylic Zebra Art by Christina Langman

"Eye to Eye" is a set of 10" x 8" pieces. Both reference photos were taken by the artist - the tiger was photographed at the Guzoo in Three Hills, AB, and the zebra was photographed at the Calgary Zoo in Calgary, AB. Did you notice the reflection of the artist taking her photo in the zebra's eye? The tiger eye is done on copper foil scratchboard - meaning the orange hairs on the tiger shimmer coppery in the light, whereas the zebra eye was done on silver foil scratchboard - meaning the white/lighter hairs on the zebra shimmer silvery in the light. The overall effect is subtle but very unique and eye-catching. This technique involves scratching with an X-Acto knife, and painting with a very fine brush. If you are interested in seeing a step-by-step on this scratchboard and paint technique, view Christina Langman's Tutorial. The "Eye to Eye" set is SOLD.
